Marina Ortega

Junior Researcher

Marina Ortega is currently enrolled in her final year of bachelor’s degree at Sciences Po Paris, focusing on international relations, economics and sociology. She will be completing her studies at Beijing University as part of an exchange program in Summer 2021.

Having studied the transatlantic relations between Europe and the US, she is interested in exploring China’s growing geopolitical power and its relationship with the EU. During her time working at the Permanent Representation of Spain at the FAO, her work focused on international development collaboration and agricultural commerce.

At EIAS, her research will mainly concern Sino-European relations in the fields of agriculture, economic cooperation and trade, and the different ways in which European and Chinese media portray EU-China relations and the foreign and domestic policies applied in both regions. Her objective is to acquire a deeper insight into China’s economic diplomacy and how this strategy is being conducted towards its relationship with the EU and other regions in the world.
