In this panel discussion, Japan’s top ECOFEED expert will join European experts to weigh the economic, environmental and safety risks of lifting the current ban on feeding surplus food that contains meat to omnivorous livestock. Also under consideration will be the adoption of legislation that permits the feeding of surplus food heat-treated in specialist licensed plants, inspired by the Japanese Ecofeed industry. The EU Circular Economy Action Plan sets out to increase the use of surplus from the food chain in livestock feed without compromising food and feed safety.
