How Uzbekistan is eradicating child and forced labour in the cotton harvest

This event is organised by the ILO in presence of the Uzbek government, the European Commission, the World Bank, the Swiss government, the US Department of State and Independent Human Rights Activists is to present the main results of the 2018 ILO third-Party Monitoring of the Cotton Production in Uzbekistan and to discuss the role the government, the ILO, the development partners and the Human Right Activists played in this process.

The ILO invites you to a panel discussion on “How Uzbekistan is eradicating child and forced labour in the cotton harvest”, which will take place at the European Institute for Asian Studies. The discussants and the audence will also have the opportunity to tackle how Uzbekistan can position itself as a major exporter of textiles and garments and what other countries can learn from the Uzbek’s experience.
