EU Taiwan Investment Relations: Building a Relationship for the Future

In 2018, EIAS in cooperation with the Taipei Representative Office in the European Union, renewed a 2014 EIAS report “Taiwanese Outward Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI) into the European Union.” This recently published report unveiled how the investment relationship between the EU and Taiwan remains underexploited, with both parties standing to benefit significantly from greater engagement. As well as outlining the current trends in the EU-Taiwan investment relationship, this report identifies both the barriers faced by Taiwanese companies hoping to invest in Europe, and the potential benefits to be gained from an improved investment relationship.

This seminar brings together stakeholders from both the EU and Taiwan to discuss the findings of the report, and to consider the future investment relationship between the two sides. This event is sure to provide insight as how to tap into the unrealized potential of deeper investment flows between Taiwan and the EU, and explore the possibility of establishing a bilateral investment agreement (BIA).
