2018 is the year of the 15th anniversary of the EU and China’s engagement in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the 20th anniversary of the EU-China Summit. Due to change in the international and internal development of both the EU and China, the EU-China relationship has reached a turning point. This book on the European Union and China, authored by Prof. Dr. Thomas Christiansen from Maastricht University, Prof. Dr. Emil Kirchner from Essex University and Dr. Uwe Wissenbach from the European External Action Service, reviews the evolution of the relationship, discussing the political, economic, social and security dimensions of the relationship and the international development policy of the EU and China. This publication is the first major text to offer an accessible introduction into the multifaceted nature of EU-China relations.

The European Institute for Asian Studies, Confucius Institute at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and Brussels Academy for China and European Studies will invite the three authors to give an introduction of the new book and discuss the current development of the EU-China relations after 15 years of the comprehensive strategic partnership. We also invite Chinese scholars working in the field to enter the discussion.
