EIAS Discussion “A Conversation with the Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines – A look at the Impact of the long-standing armed insurgency on their communities” Mindanao is a region of the Philippines that is abundant with natural resources and a diverse population. While the region continues to be challenged by long-standing insurgencies, the rise of President Rodrigo R. Duterte – who himself is from Mindanao – has put a spotlight on the region and its peoples, including indigenous peoples. Eight members of various Mindanao tribes will be discussing their situation on the ground and will address potential ways forward.
