EIAS Discussion “A Conversation with the Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines – A look at the Impact of the long-standing armed insurgency on their communities”   Mindanao is a region of the Philippines that is abundant with natural resources and a diverse population. While the region continues to be challenged by long-standing insurgencies, the rise of President Rodrigo R. Duterte – who himself is from Mindanao – has put a spotlight on the region and its peoples, including indigenous peoples. Eight members of various Mindanao tribes will be discussing their situation on the ground and will address potential ways forward.   Date: Friday, 20 September 2019 Registration and lunch: 12:00 – 13:15 Time: 13:15 – 15:00 Venue: Asia Platform, Rue de la Loi 26, 10th Floor, B- 1040 Brussels
